Seeking Input on Fitness Center in Lindenhurst Area

Hello moms! I am looking to join a gym in the Lindenhurst area. I was looking at the Lake Forest Health and Fitness Center on 45 and also the Hastings Lake YMCA. I have ruled out the Lindenhurst Park District since they only have classes and no exercise equipment. Does anyone have any experience at either of these fitness centers or any others they can highly recommend? What is of utmost importance to me is that I want to make sure my son (who will be with me) is going to be SAFE, comfortable and will look forward to the in-gym childcare wherever we choose to go.

What can I do next?

WE go to Gold's gym in gurnee. Very good prices, longer daycare hours, and free swimming lessons for the kids!
$99/month for the family, but after paying for swimming, it turned out to be cheaper for us than the Y.
They will let you try it free for one week.
Good luck!

I have heard great things about the Lake Forest Fitness center. I have not been there but I have a lot of clients who drop their children off at the Red Apple Academy for preschool and work out while their children are at school. Many of them used this club while their children were your son's age and said it was good. Sorry but all my info is second hand :)

I have been a member of both. The LFHFC is a wonderful club and very clean and much newer. For a 14 month old the child care is awesome. For a family of four, the monthly fee is over $150 including childcare. They have a nice pool too and classes that are easy to drop in on. The YMCA is about $64 for a family of four including childcare. They also have a pool. Class sizes are very small because space is limited. The facility is dated for sure. The upside is that you get to know those that you work out with and you have to commit to a class. If you miss two sessions in a row, then they give your spot to someone on the wait list. Another up to YMCA is that you can go to any YMCA. We often have a family night at the Grayslake YMCA which is much newer and nicer.

As for childcare.. we will not leave or kids with just anyone. Both kiddos have life threatening food allergies and asthma. My youngest has been to the ER 9 times this year alone. So, we are very picky. It took me about three weeks to work up to leaving her at the Y but, I am very comfortable with them now. Hope that helps : ) BTW we are at the Y now mainly b/c of cost and are just as happy.

From a completely biased point of view, I would recommend Centre Club on Hunt Club just south of Grand in Gurnee... I teach there and am very happy. My children go to the child care there and have been quite happy, as well.
