Sore Nipples - Lawton,OK

I was wondering if anyone knew what could cause sore nipples? I had my tubes tied a little over 2 years ago, so I shouldn't be pregnant, besides that, when I was, my whole breast were sore. They are sensitive when washing in the shower, thats how I noticed. Has anyone had this happen or know what could be the reason for it? Not sure if I need to go to the doctor for check up or not. Thanks in advance for your responses!

So What Happened?

Well, thanks for all the advice! As of now, I'm no longer having sore nipples. It went away a few days later. My period was due a couple of days ago and I'm not showing any signs that I'm starting. I'm really hoping that I'm not pregnant(why else would I have my tubes tied)! Besides that, my husband just left 3 weeks ago for another deployment! Thanks again for all the responses, I'll let everyone know what I find out. I'm making an appointment on monday.

Hi K.,

I get sore nipples occasionally. Most of the time it happens when I am bloated due to too much salt or I've gained some unwanted weight. It also happens occasionally due to hormones and my monthly cycle. I don't get too concerned though it is very uncomfortable, as long as there is no discharge associated with it.

We just got back from Gustav Evacuation on Wednesday and just got my internet service back tonight! I've come so reliant on the computer for every day tasks that it was quite exciting to get my service back!! Hope all gets better for you!

HI K.,

My best guess is that even though you've had a tubal ligation you're probably ovulating. This can cause your nipples and even your entire breast to become extremely sore.If that is the case it should go away soon. If you think that it could be something different like maybe a yeast infection on the nipple you should definitely at least call your doctor and tell him/her your symptoms. I hope this helps a little. Take care.

Well...Only time mine were was when I was pregnant.
You should probably take a test just to be sure.
Otherwise, you might get online and order a saliva hormone panel. Results will come to you, and then you can take to doc of choice. Hormones run amuck could technically also cause sore nipples. Other than that...You might read up on candida. Yeast overgrowth in the body can cause this...just as it can vaginally...If you've taken antibiotics recently (or frequently), or use large amounts of starch--white flour, white sugar...pasteurized milk...These things cause yeast overgrowth.
Blessings on your boobie plight! : )

Hi, K., could your sore nipples be caused by a new bra, or from being in the water, swimming, etc.? I would call your ob/gyn, and at the least, ask to speak with the dr. or nurse, just to allay any fears you may be having.

You might also think of soaps/detergents/etc. anything that might be irritating your skin. If you haven't looked at Arbonne products, I would highly suggest it b/c they don't have anything that would harm yours or your family's skin...anything on your skin can be absorbed & cause changes, too. I'd be happy to send you free samples. Since you are thinking of going back to work, you might consider a business sharing the gift of Arbonne, which you can do in the nooks & crannies of your day, around your kids' schedules. It can give you time & financial freedom, too. If I can help, please contact me & feel no obligation to do anything further. I want to help esp. parents who want to be more available for their families, help them help others and so on.

thanks & I hope you get some relief!

HOrmones and excess water can cause it. Also more serious things can cause it if you have no cycle so get that check up!

I had that problem for awhile. Mine was my birthcontrol though. It changed my hormones and made my nipples hurt really bad, I could hardly even wear a bra or wash them b/c they were so sore. Hope yours get better.

My name is K. S and I believe that it has to do w/ your hormones being out of balance. I work for a company called Arbonne in which I have learned so many things regarding our hormones. I suggest that you get some natural hormone cream and try and/or get a saliva test ( not by blood it is not accurate) done and see what your hormone level is. You can get one at some pharmacies or health stores. Give me a call for more info. about a natural hormone and also the test. K. ###-###-#### ____@____.com

I would have it looked at by a Doctor but its best to know what your problem is I've heard of so many women coming up with breast cancer it starts out sore, with or without redness, or even resemble a bug bite that itchs/or not itch, sensitive to touch or to be touch by clothing and it could feel hot when touched are some of the symptoms that I've heard that have occured. Its scary not knowing what something is! I had cervical cancer in 1998 that a papsmear found it, it was verly in the first stage so I was lucky, but so many women don't find out till its too late. I just get it checked out & please let us know what the Dr. tells you. God Bless you!

There could be several reasons for this. Have you switched laundry detergents, shampoo, or bath soap? Have you recently been on an antibiotic, which can lead to thrush (even if you aren't breastfeeding)? You can try Lansinoh (which is for breastfeeding moms) for a few days. If it isn't better in a few days, I would see the doc to rule out anything severe. I would also start taking probiotics, and switch to something like dreft/ivory snow to wash bras.

I hope that helps!

Yes, it would definitely be a good idea to see your doctor. There are a wide variety of causes for sore nipples, some are harmless and others are not - its best to have it checked out as early as possible. And its about time to start your regular mammograms anyway (Once per 5 yrs at least if you have no family history). Dont let the doc tell you that you're too young. I was diagnosed with breast cancer at 32. Dont get yourself worked up tho, its probly no big deal. Just be aware :}

There are several things that could cause it, but to be on the safe side you should probably be seen by a Dr. Different laundry detergents, soaps, lotions, etc. can irritate the sensitive skin there as well as hormonal changes and pregnancy. They could be chapped. It could also be something more serious, so it's always better to talk to or see your Dr. to be sure.
