Replacing Old Nipples?

My sitter attributes a leaky bottle to old nipples. What's the general lifespan of nipples? Does it change based on type? Does it change based on how you wash it (dishwasher vs. handwashing)? My daughter uses the Soothie silicone nipple. Since she's outgrowing her Medela bottles, I was going to switch to larger Born Free bottles. Or, is my sitter mistaken?

New Baby on the Way... What Do I Need?

I am due in May and am getting ready to start stocking my house with stuff for baby. We have an eight year old son but I feel that it has been so long since I have done the baby thing that I forget the necessities and I am sure they have come out with cool new stuff. So I was hoping to get some feedback on the essentials I need and new products you loved.

Weaning 21 Month Old

Hey, Im writing to ask for wisdom and advice on how to wean my little toddler. We have been cutting down the nursing sessions to just before nap, before bed and 1-2x a night (sometimes more, if she is sleeping with us). I realize that I am at the point where I am beginning to no longer enjoy it...and Im feeling like it is time to move forward. She is almost 2 and eating a great, healthy diet so I know it is simply about comfort and soothing. What are good tools for this transition? She is a very strong willed little girl, and LOVES to...

Recommended Baby Items for 1St Time Momma

My husband and I are expecting our first child in July. This will be the first grandchild on both sides and his mom is dying to hit the store! She would like for us to register (which is fine) but we're not sure what to register for. Besides the obvious - crib, bedding, stroller, car seat - is there anything that you recommend? We'd like to make sure that we cover all the bases and with all the gear and gadgets out there, it can be a bit overwhelming. Thanks for your help!

Born Free Bottles

For those of you who use the Bornfree bottles - do you have problems with the nipples collapsing? I am disappointed in the ease of use with these bottles as there are several parts and it is never easy to simply warm-up a bottle. Now, the nipples push in about half the time she is sucking. She is using the right size nipple so I know that isn't the issue. I noticed that the rubber is very thin so I wondered if it was because of that? I feel like, for the amount of money I spent on the bottles...they should work. Anyone else have this...

Born Free Bottles

Is anyone else having trouble with Born Free bottles? My son liked them at first but he seems to have a hard time now. I have to change the nipple several times before he will eat. I purchased new nipples which seemed to work at first but then after awhile the same issue was happening again. Anyone else have this problem? Side Note- I dont need anyones opinion on breast feeding! Its a personal choice to bottlefeed. If you feel the need to lecture me then don't bother responding. Thank you

Question About Born Free Bottles

I recently started using Born Free bottles with my 6 week old twin boys. Several times I've noticed that the nipple kind of collapses during a feeding - which is something the manufacturer says isn't supposed to happen. I can't see that it's causing a problem - it just seems weird since it's something they say specifically shouldn't happen. Has anyone else noticed this? Did you continue to use the bottles?
