Seeking Advice for 18 Week Daughter Who Still Struggles with Babysitters

My baby girl is such a "mama's girl" (early strangeritis), but it's making it hard for me to work (and I need to work to help support our family). I work from home tutoring students with learning disabilities from 3 to 8 PM Mondays through Thursdays and my babysitters come in and watch her in the home. She did great with the babysitters from 8 weeks until 12 weeks at which point she started to be 'fussy' for at least a third of the time they are here. I did some preliminary sleep training (e.g., napping only in the crib, putting her down...

Recommended Baby Items for 1St Time Momma

My husband and I are expecting our first child in July. This will be the first grandchild on both sides and his mom is dying to hit the store! She would like for us to register (which is fine) but we're not sure what to register for. Besides the obvious - crib, bedding, stroller, car seat - is there anything that you recommend? We'd like to make sure that we cover all the bases and with all the gear and gadgets out there, it can be a bit overwhelming. Thanks for your help!

Naps for 6 Week Old

My six week old refuses to nap. She takes maybe a few short cat naps during the day. Like 3 or 4 20 min. naps. I really don't think this is enough sleep for a baby so young. Also she will only nap in her swing. If i lay her in her pack and play or crib she immediately wakes up. I have tried laying her down awake but drowsy and letting her fuss for a bit but she becomes hysterical. It is strange b/c she sleeps good at night in her pack n play. She goes down for the night around 10 or 11 and she only wakes up once around 3 am to eat and then...

6Wk Old Baby Needs to Be Held to Sleep

Hi, i understand that baby's sleep habits will change from time to time. I want to know if my baby girl 6 wks is too young to let cry to sleep. since birth she slept alot until recently. being more and more awake and less naps. (which of course means less sleep for me). i know she gets tired and cranky and wants to sleep but have trouble falling asleep sometimes (especially when i want her to at night) unless i let her sleep on my chest or hold up on my shoulders. I get tired of letting her sleep on my chest because i'm lounging on a love...

What Is the Most Versatile Carrier?

We recently switched our soon-to-be 5 month old baby's car seat and it isn't a traveller kind. We are now faced with how to easily carry our baby when we grocery shop and run errands. A stroller isn't practical while grocery shopping. And just when we want to go into the store, she falls asleep. We have a Snugli carrier, but it is like putting together a puzzle to put it together and to get our baby in there is a royal pain. Plus, it is very uncomfortable to wear the baby in. Any suggestions on what carrier would be most comfortable...

Baby Carrier/Slings Recommendations

I' looking into purchasing either a baby carrier or a sling for a 4 month old. He's classified as a "high needs baby" (according to Dr. Sears) and needs to be held and kept in motion most of the time. Up until now I was holding out hope that this phase was going to pass. Now I have accepted the fact that I will need to hold him for some time yet. I currently have a Snugli but feel it isn't supportive enough. I usually hold it w/ my arm as well. Since spring is around the corner (or so I hope) I'll need another carrier or sling that is...

8 Month Old Who Constantly Cries

I have an 8 month old little boy. He constantly cries if I don't hold him or if he isn't around me. At the babysitter's house he cries for hours at a time. He usually cries himself to sleep. When I leave the room, he cries. If he is at the babysitters and I show up he starts screaming and crying for me. He will go to his father, but after a while he will cry for me. I started carrying him around the house in a snugli just to do everyday house work, so I don't have to listen to him scream and cry. I don't know how to stop this behavior....
